We’re so excited for this year’s expo! We’ve outgrown our previous building and are hosting the 2024 Expo at the CSI Mini-Cassia Center (the old Burley High School). We’re also extending our hours to offer more classes!
This is a FREE non-denominational event sponsored by FamilySearch Burley. The whole community is invited! Best suited for ages 12 and up.
The halls will be filled with vendors or all kinds of things including genealogy products and services. Food vendors will be outside in the courtyard or you may bring your own lunch.

The event is free, but the vendors would sure like you to bring your wallets! Payment types will vary by vendor.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides FamilySearch free of charge to everyone, regardless of tradition, culture, or religious affiliation. FamilySearch resources help millions of people around the world discover their heritage and connect with family members. In fact, the vast majority of its users are not affiliated with the church in any way.
Jamie and Cameron began this event back in 2018 in Declo, Idaho on a much smaller scale. It’s continued to grow in interest. 2023 was our first year back from the pandemic break and was hosted here in Burley for the first time. 2024 is our first year of opening it up to the entire community and making it non-denominational.
Además de nuestras dos aulas dedicadas a presentaciones en español, habrá traductores voluntarios cada hora que le podrán ayudar.
Yes the majority of our virtual presenters have given us permission to record their sessions. Please see individual class descriptions to verify. The rest will be live-only.
Each hour we have overflow rooms across the street in the Institute Building for the 4 most requested classes that need additional seating.
The seating varies by classroom. Half are padded office chairs, half are the hard classroom chairs. You’re more than welcome to bring your own chair or seat pad.
Absolutely! There will be food trucks in the courtyard who would appreciate your business. But you are more than welcome to visit a local restaurant during the day or bring your own lunch. There is a commons area in the building for taking a break to eat. There is no formal lunch hour or break in classes.
Many classes are encouraging participants to bring a laptop or personal device to be able to work on things in class. Three of the classrooms are computer labs that you can use during those class times. It would be wise to bring your usernames and passwords for FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast or any other platform/app of the class you are taking.
A parking map will be provided here in a couple of days. Of all the places in Burley, this area is rich in parking spots!
Absolutely! There’s classes for all interests and skill levels. Genealogy is such a multi-faceted topic that sometimes it can be difficult to know where to begin. This type of expo is perfect to help you find your niche!
Let’s think happy thoughts and hope that its a perfect day! We’ll have volunteers shoveling sidewalks and helping park. But if it’s extreme, we may have to limit the activity to our virtual presenters and supply everyone with a zoom link. In that case, we’d reschedule most of the in-person classes at the Burley FamilySearch Center throughout the next month or so.
Yes! We are testing out a new genealogy series of classes through CSI’s Community Education program this semester. Register 3 different ways: communityed.csi.edu, 208.678.1400 or in person.
Many of our local presenters also offer free classes regularly at the Burley FamilySearch Center.
The virtual classes are for out-of-town presenters to speak live with in person attendees of the expo. Some of which will be recorded. We will not be sharing the meeting link for participants the day of the expo. Maybe in the future 🙂
We do have some classes this year which may only be of interest to certain religious groups such as ‘The History of the Jews in Southern Idaho” or “Church Service Missionary Opportunities from Home”. Everyone is welcome in any class you’d like to attend.
